This authentic Hummel
figurine titled 'Little Thrifty' was first modeled in 1939 by master
sculptor Arthur Moeller and restyled in 1963 by Rudolf Wittman. The piece is
actually a bank made with a metal lock and key on the bottom. The object
into which' Little Thrifty' is putting her coin is a medieval form of a Poor
Box, something still found in many older European churches. This piece was
temporarily withdrawn in September 2003.
