1922 SGS GRADED SLABBED MS66
By early 1922,
the Peace dies were redesigned in order to eliminate the early die failures and
the stacking problems encountered late in 1921. Thus, changes were made to
reduce the high relief of the previous year. On the obverse, the field was
somewhat flattened and the alphabetic characters were made with thinner
proportions. Another line was added to Liberty's headband, and three short rays
were added to the left of her crown. On the reverse, the relief was lowered, a
third mountain peak was added, the number of sun rays was reduced, and the eagle
was modified slightly. These changes remained in effect until the end of 1928.
